In the future technology will be so advanced that it potentially rob a third of humans’ occupation. McKinsey had a report saying that in 60% of occupation, at least a third of the constituent activities can be fully automated. One example of occupations that lost to technology is postal services’ postmen. Ever since the advancement of text message, phone call, and email; we can no longer see them on the streets.

Today, the increase in hourly wages makes manufacturing companies consider replacing its workers with machines in the near future. In fact some companies have already done it. Foxconn, manufacturing company of Samsung and IPhone has replaced 60,000 of its workers to robots. Yep, you read it right 60,000! And turns out journalists are also in danger. It has been tested that AI now can write up to 3,000 reports per quarter.

Therefore, developing skills and behavior that can help maintain your job in the upcoming future of work is important. Here are some:

1. Stay Curious and Seek Answers

Curiosity gets us far in life. In fact, without it humans won’t get as far as we are today. Lots and lots of benefits can be obtained from staying curious. As mentioned above, the most obvious benefit is it helps us survive. The urge to seek answers gets us to where we are today. Science, technology, and basically everything is the fruit of years and years of curiosity and learning.

Curiosity will broaden our knowledge and boost achievement. Even studies shows that curiosity leads to enjoyment and participation in academic as well as engagement, greater learning, and performances at work.

The pressure of staying ahead above competitors is increasing as more and more companies pop up each day. Which is why, the idea of improving ability to innovate and find novel solutions is needed in the workplace.

Creativity allows us to see things in new lights; it is the foundation of innovation. We need to learn how to overcome the barriers to individual and group creativity by applying critical thinking skills to as part of decision making process. A person with critical mind and creativity can use information they obtained and solve problems by creating strategy that brings fortune for the company.
